35. WORK HABITS.36. Your work habits include your use of protective equipment and clothing, your attitude about the job, your safety awareness, the way you dress for work. In other words, the way you do the job. It's a little harder to form good work habits because you usually have to do a little extra but the dividend it pays is a long healthy life. Some things to remember:
Wear the protective gear provided to keep you safe.
Don't wear rings, bracelets, watches, necklaces, or other jewelry on the job.
Dress for the job and the weather.
Report unsafe conditions, equipment, or actions to your supervisor or safety petty officer immediately.
Warn others of hazards they might riot be aware of.
Never walk through a prop or rotor arc.
Form safe work habits. Do the little extra.
Don't walk through hangar or elevator doors while they're closing.
Wipe off slippery shoe soles, SE foot pedals, and areas you need to stand on.
Never plug in or unplug a hot power cable. Check that the switch is off first.
Don't stand in the rotation plane of turbine compressors (marked with red stripes).
Stand clear of intakes.
Stand clear of exhausts.
Don't cross over or under elevator stanchions after they're raised.
Don't take shortcuts.
Don't operate equipment you're not fully qualified and/or licensed for.
Use the maintenance manual to be sure how to do the job.
Conscientiously read the minutes of unit safety meetings.
Don't jury rig or bypass safety devices.
Don't use fuel to wash your hands, clean parts, spills, etc.
Remove clothing or shoes that have become fuel soaked.
Don't use compressed air or other compressed gas to clean off your clothing.
Don't breathe hazardous vapors of any kind.
Obey smoking regulations.

Always put tools and parts back where you found them
